Event Types We Present
XCO racing is the only mountain bike Olympic discipline! It consists of a pre-marked lap, containing various obstacles, and contestants must complete a specific number of laps according to their respective age categories. Each category starts separately, and a race lasts for approximately 90 minutes – the number of laps per category is determined accordingly.
Optimise your training in competition-type conditions. Compete against the stopwatch – set your personal best times around a single lap on the very next XCOSA Events Race Series racetrack. Each rider will be timed separately with our XCO timing system …
XCE races are like XCT, with the difference that 4 riders compete at a time around 1 shortened (800m long) XCO lap. The fastest 2 riders per heat advance to the next heat, until the final heat where a final winner is determined.
XCR races are like XCO, with the difference that 2-rider to 4-rider male, female and mixed teams, or solo riders, compete for 8 laps in age categories around a XCO track. The respective teams finishing their 8 laps first are the winners.
XCM races are mass start events that take place over 20km, 40km and 60 km. Routes for these XCM races are less technical than XCO and are restricted to fewer laps. The full race distance is normally covered over 1 lap, but between 2 and 3 laps for the 60km distance at the most.
